Zachary David Alexander Efron (born October 18, 1987) is an American actor and singer.

Speaking to Newsweek, director Adam Shankman described Efron as "arguably the biggest teen star in America right now".

Zac Efron was born in San Luis Obispo, California to David Efron and Starla Baskett, of Jewish descent. He has a brother, Dylan, and owns two Australian Shepherds named Dreamer and Puppy, as well as a Siamese cat named Simon. At age eleven, his singing talent was discovered and encouraged, and he was cast in the musical Gypsy for 90 performances. He went on to have roles in stage productions of Peter Pan, Little Shop of Horrors, The Music Man, and Mame. He joined the cast of Summerland, where his blue eyes and tousled hair made him an instant hit with young female fans. He took another heartfelt teen role in the 2006 Disney cable movie High School Musical.

Yes, it’s true ladies. Zac Efron recently admitted his love for the irresistible Tyra Banks. But, don’t despair! The couple won’t be heading down the aisle anytime soon. The good news is… Zac has moved on.

Tyra was Zac’s first love, during seventh and eighth grade. It was during that time that he kept a poster of Tyra, on his ceiling. She was the first person he saw in the morning and the last person he saw at night. Lucky Tyra!

And of course, this bit of news was passed along news wires so your parents wouldn't say "Zac who??" anymore =) Our fave High School Musical hunky actor beat hot favorites Chace Crawford and Brody Jenner. In other Zac Efron news, the actor is currently filming his upcoming movie Seventeen in Southern California. He was seen shooting a backyard basketball scene as his character Mike O'Donnell. So I guess all his gym exercise and previous basketball games are for this movie. Last week, USA Today sat down with the hottest teen stars in the planet right now - the High School Musical gang! The popular kids all shared what they want for Christmas, and for Zac Efron, a new skateboard will make him happy. Says the handsome actor, "I'm constantly breaking things, and I go through skateboards pretty fast. So a new Sector 9 Longboard would be nice." Yeah that definitely sounds nice! And expensive too, lol! But he can afford it I'm sure. His paycheck for HSM3 is rumored to be at millions, w00t! And speaking of HSM3, Zac Efron related that he wants his character Troy "to win another basketball game - maybe even nationals" in the third movie. The "Hairspray" actor also shared his favorite holiday tradition with USA Today. He says, "I always help pick out a natural, chopped-down-in-the-woods tree, so our whole house starts to smell like Christmas." By the way, Zac Efron won the best actor award for the Disney Channel original at the 2007 Family Television Awards in Beverly Hills last November 28. HSM2 also picked up best movie musical honors. Congratulations guys!!

Cool huh?? And Entertainment Weekly's awards only went to 25 celebrities. Great job Zac Efron! =) Anyway, here are some questions that the magazine asked of the High School Musical heartthrob:

If he could put a face to that career: "Leonardo DiCaprio is someone whose career path I would love to emulate. The problem is there's not enough scripts about giant boats sinking that are immersed in a love story. I can't find that script. I'm thinking about writing Titanic 2. It would pick up right after where the last one left off."

Top items on Zac Efron's wish-fulfillment list are: "Lately I love my iPhone. I've also got a new car that I'm really excited about: an Audi S6. I don't think anyone in my family tree has ever earned a car this nice. I find myself driving for no reason at all these days."

We have been bombarded with pictures of Zac Efron going and leaving his basketball games these past few days. There was even one memorable game where a female paparazzo gave the High School Musical star flowers! Me thinks they were bored to tears watching Zac come and go in his games, lol! Anyway, last November 15, the Hairspray actor delivered several boxes of donated school supplies, including a new video camera, to a classroom at John Adams Middle School in Los Angeles. Nice one Zac! At least you're doing some good while not yet filming HSM 3. Yes boys and girls, Zac Efron is officially in! He was seen waving around an ultra-secret copy of the HSM 3 script after meeting with the director of HSM 1 and 2. Yeeha! Anyway, back to the donation -- the 20-year old actor also talked with the school's students on behalf of DonorsChoose.org, the non-profit website that was visiting schools nationwide to fulfill classroom needs. I just bet the students were super thrilled to talk to Zac Efron! Who wouldn't be??

Zac Efron plays ball!  November 11, 2007

For the past month or so, we've seen Zac Efron go in and out of gyms in the Los Angeles area almost every day. The High School Musical hunk sometimes has his hair in ponytail (adorable!) and his physique has wonderfully filled out (especially his biceps!) with his daily workout. Last November 8, Zac Efron however, went for a different workout. He played basketball! Just like his HSM character Troy Bolton =) The 20-year old actor was spotted playing b-ball for two hours at a private basketball court which came as a surprise coz he once admitted he doesn't play the sport. Says Zac Efron: "I am not a basketball player! No stunt double [for his HSM character], but I'm not that great of a basketball player. I had one real season under my belt, playing with kids who were so much better than me; it was embarrassing, I think I scored two points all season. So, it took a lot of practice to say the least." Lol! Poor Zac! At least he tries real hard... =)

Being the handsome male lead of the hit High School Musical certainly has its perks. In the case of Zac Efron, its having women swoon over him. Whether they be younger or older. His latest admirer? Reality TV star Lauren Conrad of "The Hills" who recently voiced out her crush on the 20-year old actor. Says Lauren, "He's so cute! He is younger than me, and it's just because I'm the hugest dork, but I love Zac Efron!" I wonder what Vanessa Hudgens will say about this. Will she feel proud that her bf is the fantasy of millions of women or will she feel threatened? After all, Lauren is as beautiful as the rest of the young stars these days. And what does "The Hills" star like best about Zac Efron? "His hair is always so pretty!" Lol! That sounds so gay! I thought Lauren would say coz he's got big biceps and a great body. Rumors of Zanessa breakup were rife mere hours prior to the birthday of Zac Efron, one-half of the widely popular couple. According to a close friend of Zac (who told OK!), it was “officially over” between the Hairspray star and Vanessa Hudgens last Wednesday evening, hours before Zac was to turn 20. The reason for the split? Zac Efron believes that V has another boyfriend, although there was no evidence to suggest it. But the breakup rumors proved to be just that, rumors – coz the next day, on Zac’s 20th birthday, Disney’s highly celebrated couple went out to dinner. Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron were photographed by paparazzi entering Orso restaurant in West Hollywood last Thursday night. And the two were as sweet as the next couple, entering the resto holding hands. Awww! No word yet what they ate during the birthday dinner, or what Vanessa gave to the birthday boy.

Uber-hot High School Musical star Zac Efron (and his entourage) arrived in Los Angeles last Monday afternoon after his weeklong trip to the Land Down Under where he co-hosted the Nickelodeon Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2007. The awards were held last Wednesday at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia. Zac Efron shared hosting duties with the cool Aussie pop group The Veronicas. He also won a blimp for “Fave Movie Star” and High School Musical 2 also picked up the award for “So Hot Right Now”. Our warm congratulations guys! =) Anyway, Zac Efron just arrived in time for his upcoming 20th birthday this Thursday. Woohoo! I wonder how he’ll celebrate it – party all night long or just spend some fun time with family and friends? Gotta stay tuned! And if you’ll notice Zac’s getup at the airport, he was wearing his favorite white flip-flops again! What’s up with that?? Lol!

After a rocky patch in their two-year relationship, Zanessa is again facing couple trouble. And this time, it is the “fault” of Zac Efron. Apparently The High Musical hunk went to Chavez Ravine and met up with former N’Sync star Joey Fatone last Friday night. Then Zac watched a Los Angeles Dodgers game versus the San Francisco Giants at the Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles. It was there when he was photographed with his arms around a girl. Vanessa Hudgens the girl was NOT though they both share the same dark brown wavy hair. According to JustJared.com, the girl was just a female friend. But gossips are speculating that Zanessa has broken up, and the girl was Zac Efron’s new babe. But the breakup rumor was again quickly dispelled when the two Disney stars went for a joyride to Burbank the next day. Hmm, so what’s the real score?? Are Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens just keeping up with their appearances so that their fans will stay happy? Have they really broken up?? Stay tuned!

Despite persistent rumors that Disney’s golden couple is on the rocks, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are doing everything to dispel the breakup tales. After being seen on a pizza date earlier this week (where Zac looked a bit grumpy, fueling the breakup rumor fire), the couple was seen hanging out again in Los Angeles yesterday. Zac and Vanessa were out in a park, spending the day relaxing with each other. Vanessa Hudgens was wearing a cutie Jem t-shirt, retro oversized jewelry, and big black celebrity sunglasses. Zac Efron, on the other hand, looked grungier than usual and was wearing a weird baseball/toboggan hybrid hat.

The latest about Disney's golden couple, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, is that they are breaking up because of Vanessa's date with an older man while Zac was away. Apparently she was all over him and when somebody mentioned Zac's name, Vanessa reportedly shouted, "don't mention his name!" So, are they breaking up? NOT! Coz Zac and Vanessa were seen making out in public recently. National Enquirer reported in their print edition this week that the two still had the hots for each other. And before you dismiss this as tabloid rumors, remember that it was the National Enquirer who broke the news about Vanessa's nude photos -- 10 days before she confirmed it was her.

Anyway, the golden couple was seen shopping at an LA boutique and apparently, Vanessa dragged Zac into a changing room and began smooching! Yup, thrilling isn't it?? Just like in the movies, lol! National Enquirer further reported that Zanessa were giggling while starstruck shoppers gawked at their very public display of affection. Apparently no one shouted "get a room!" as the makeout session got longer and heavier, lol!

Vanessa Hudgens has been under a lot of fire these past few weeks coz of her nude photos. It’s good that the Disney management was supportive of her, as well as her fellow Disney stars (Miley Cyrus and Ashley Tisdale). However Zac Efron, Vanessa’s boyfriend and her co-star in The High Musical, has been relatively silent about the whole scandal. According to Life & Style’s report, Zac has given his support to his beleaguered girlfriend, albeit without much media fanfare. Yup, that’s why we never heard of it til now, lol!

Anyway, according to reports, Vanessa “freaked out” and fled to Australia when her nude photos were leaked. In Australia, she joined Zac who was promoting Hairspray. According to onlookers who spotted the young celebrity couple in the Land Down Under, Vanessa “looked shell-shocked”. It was in Australia where Zac demonstrated how much he cares for Vanessa. According to the insider who tattled to Life and Style, “It was supposed to be Zac's moment and Vanessa's chance to support him [while promoting Hairspray], but then the scandal broke.” The insider continues, “The world was watching Vanessa, and Zac was there for her. He did the right thing. He was her rock.” That’s sooo good to hear! =)

Has Zac Efron found another girl to replace his troubled girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens? It seemed that way after millions of people saw him kiss Nikki Blonsky, his co-star in Hairspray, on live TV! And mind you, it was not just a plain kiss but an open-mouthed one! According to witnesses, Zac even exclaimed “I’m in so much trouble!” after wiping his mouth after the mini-make-out session. Man, we’re sure Vanessa’s gonna be pissed. After all she’s in hot waters right now, and Zac, instead of comforting her, is out kissing other girls. In live TV no less! Tsk! The controversial kiss happened at Canadian TV’s MuchMusic concert while Zac and Nikki were promoting Hairspray. So are the two hooking up? Zac denied it but admits Nikki is his bestfriend. If you’re gonna be married within 6 hours and you saw Zac Efron, what would you do? Would you just say hi and ask for a quick "fan" kiss from him? Or would ask the hot-hot-hot High School Musical star to go in your bridal car for a last minute "I’m-still-single joyride"? Apparently that’s what one bride did when she spotted Zac jogging with friends near an LA park. The bridal car stopped by the group and the bride asked Zac to hop in for a joyride. Zac, confused, replied: "A joyride?  Looks like you're heading for a wedding." To which the brazen bride retorted: "Hey, I'm not getting married for a few hours - I'm single until then!" Even brides are hot for Zac Efron huh?? Lol! But our favorite HSM hunk, loyal to his lovely girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, just went on jogging as if he didn’t hear the bride’s come-on.
